Contract term and extension
The post doc research fellow must work at Shanghai Jiao Tong University for a period of two years. Application for extension of post doc fellowship must be filed three months prior to ending of the contract with the supervisor’s consent; the extension must not exceed one year.
Salaries and benefits
The basic annual salary for post doc research fellows is RMB￥80,000 (for those who have received their PhD degree from universities ranking world top 100), or RMB￥60,000 (ranking 101 and below), personal income tax, social insurance and housing fund included.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University maintains commercial medical insurance and personal accident insurance for post doc fellows from overseas, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Post doc fellows graded A in their annual assessment are awarded RMB￥4,000; those graded B are awarded RMB￥2,000. The award is not applicable to the extended period.
Post doc fellows on non-private trip out of mainland China for over 3 months receive a basic monthly salary of RMB￥1,500 only.
Post doc fellows can choose either to rent a post doc apartment of SJTU or to rent an apartment off campus. Those renting an apartment off campus are granted a monthly rental subsidy of RMB￥2,200.
