The first International Education Forum on Sustainable Development Goals was held at the Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University from March 15 to 16, 2024. This forum is hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Paris Elite Institute of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University National Elite Institute, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press.
Nearly a hundred guests attended the conference, including leaders of more than 20 Sino foreign cooperative educational institutions across the country, leaders of relevant departments and sister colleges of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and representatives of experts and teachers from 16 foreign language high schools.
The forum invited more than ten domestic and foreign experts to give keynote speeches on three sub-forums. During the forum, a signing ceremony was held for the strategic cooperation framework agreement on the co-compilation and sharing of the "Sino French Excellent Engineer Training Project" series of textbooks.
Serge Stinckwich is giving a report titled "Interdisciplinary: Advancing Education for a More Responsible and Sustainable Artistic Intelligence". He analyzed the benefits and hazards of artificial intelligence and pointed out that interdisciplinary artificial intelligence can narrow the gap between technical and ethical perspectives. He cites the concepts of boundary objects and post normal science in sociology to explain how to achieve interdisciplinary artificial intelligence.
Frédéric TOUMAZET gave a conference presentation titled "SDGs and the University, Inside, Outside". He pointed out that the main responsibility of ancient European universities was to cultivate medical and legal professionals, and the large-scale development of modern universities has led to the professionalization of universities, which is intuitively reflected in the strengthening of industrial connections. He used the French School of Engineers and the Paris Institute of Excellence as examples to illustrate the cultivation of scientific knowledge, leadership, creativity, and other abilities in modern universities. He pointed out that acquiring abilities through training is an eternal asset for individuals.
On March 16th, three main forums were held, titled "Interdisciplinary Talent Training in Humanities and Sciences", "International Excellent Engineering Talent Training", and "Teaching Achievement Transformation and Promotion". More than ten Chinese and foreign experts engaged in higher education shared their insights on the sustainable development excellent engineer training model from different perspectives.
During the forum, the organizer also organized guests to visit the "Big Zero Bay" Science and Technology Innovation Source Area, drawing inspiration from cutting-edge industry practices to promote sustainable development of higher education.
The purpose of this forum is to gather higher education practitioners from various countries and regions, share their unique experiences and practical solutions, explore excellent engineer training models with sustainable development awareness, and provide wisdom for new concepts of higher education reform and new paradigms of Sino foreign cooperative education. This forum is also one of the series of activities held by Shanghai Jiao Tong University to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. Chinese and foreign scholars and experts gathered together for exchange and collision, opening up ideas for various universities to deepen cooperation in international education, engineering education, and the transformation of teaching achievements.
